De fotobestanden die u vanaf deze website downloadt, zijn qua pixelafmetingen vooral bedoeld voor webpagina’s. Voor fotoafdrukken op papier kunt u de volgende vuistregels gebruiken :
(1) redelijk goede afdrukken 100 pixels per centimeter ( = 254 dpi );
(2) kwaliteitsdrukwerk 120 pixels per centimeter ( ≈ 305 dpi ).
Een voorbeeld ter verduidelijking. Met een fotobestand van 600 × 400 px is op papier een technisch redelijk goede afdruk mogelijk van 6 × 4 centimeter en een technisch hoogwaardige afdruk van 5 × 3,3 centimeter.
Zijn voor drukwerk meer pixels nodig, dan zou u vanaf deze pagina het tekstbestand met fotogegevens kunnen downloaden. Daarin staat het internetadres (URL) van de foto. Vaak vindt u op dat adres hogere resoluties.
